I wanted to share my latest project with you. I have been looking for a solid wood bookcase that I could paint and make my own. Ben and I found this one at our local thrift store last Tuesday for $39.
It was ugly. And yellow. And plain. But it was solid wood and I saw potential. Plus, this was my first furniture project so I didn't want to tackle anything too complicated.
Well here is the finished product. What do you think?
I used Rustoleum Painter's Touch in "Antique White" and Minwax stain in "Dark Walnut" for the distressing. I found the fabric at a local store here in Nashville. I thought it would add some visual interest to the once simple bookcase. I also found the little decorative wood pieces at Lowe's. I painted them and glued them on the corners.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It took me 4 days to finish, but it was a fun project.
